Elena Makarova-Levina was born in Donetsk. She graduated with honors from the local art school. Elena participated in national and international exhibitions for young artists. She studied in the Donetsk College of Art and worked as the production designer in a number of State puppet theatres. In 1990 she opened her own studio specializing in making puppets of any kind: for theater, advertisement and interior decoration. In 1996 along with her husband Elena created a puppet theater called “Petrushkin Balagan” (Punch’s Show). She is currently working as the production designer of her own theater. At the same time she works as a painter and an icon-painter. Elena lives and works in Samara, Russia.
Elena Makarova-Levina is a member of the Union of Professional Artists: “Artists Trade Union of Russia”.
