This was taken at the Thunder Over Louisville fireworks show, which is part of the Kentucky Derby festival. At first I was annoyed that these guys were standing in the way…for most of the fireworks, it wasn’t a problem, but when they did the burning cascades over the bridge, they were right there…oy! Now I’m glad they were there…what are your thoughts? Thanks for looking!

    I think the people in the picture balance and complement the black area to the right and help tell the story of what fireworks displays are all about, to wow and awe us. Wonderful photo and just in time for the Fourth of July. I think you should add a second image with the text “Happy Fourth of July” in the right hand dark smoky corner. Fabulous work!

    Thanks for your thoughts on this, Bonnie…I might just do that, but I don’t know…it had nothing to do with the 4th, so I’m not sure I’d feel right about doing that. We’ll see. :)

    Isn’t it funny how that happens? I really felt they were in the way that night, but once I saw the images, I was grateful that they had decided to stand! :)

    What time is the race? I hope to leave by 7a which would put me at your place around 3 to 4pm I think…depending on the traffic and such.

    I agree that I might have been a bit miffed at their blocking the shot, but it gives the image a sense of scale and they are perfectly silhouetted which doesn’t distract from the amazing colour of the fireworks. If you can’t get rid of people in shots, find a way to use them to your advantange..which you did! Gorgeous shot. Cheers, s.
