Moto in the Rain

Moto in the Rain

The Vietnamese have an uncanny way of being able to tell when it’s about to rain and carry plastic ponchos under the seats of their bikes. As the heavens open, and you’re caught unawares, you can do nothing but stand there, soggy and marvel at them all zooming around, undeterred by the torrential downpour.

Taken in Saigon, Vietnam.

Beautiful capture, perfect in B+W, I remember having a similar experience in Thailand, the locals seemed to have a 6th sense about the weather

  • Lesley Williamson replied

Thanks! Yeah, it’s exactly the same all over South East Asia, they’re used to monsoon like rain.

wonderful panning!! great street photograph as well. the
exposure is nicely balanced, and the details are quite good
for a panning shot. well done!

ps: i feel scared just looking at those two. i dont think they’re wearing
    helmets are they?

  • Lesley Williamson replied

Thanks a lot! :) Unfortunately in Vietnam, people deem helmets as too expensive an investment so most don’t wear them. You should check out my other shots from there of people crossing the road. Cheers :)

i’m sure they’re interesting. i’ll have a look next time when my boss is not kicking around :D hehehehe but i see some of the thumbnails right now. they really remind me of Top Gear’s Vietnam Special they did over a year ago or something. dont know if you’re familiar with that show. you should be, they’re from london i think. your gallery as a whole is very impressive indeed. you two should travel here for the olympics!

i can’t help but mention seeing your account on deviantart, where i remember seeing this pic for the first time. i think it was on the yard collective’s monthly.

  • Lesley Williamson replied 18 days ago

Thanks for you interest Adrian, much appreciated! :) I’m not on Deviant Art so I really hope it’s not there, cos if it is, someone else has put it there!

nah wasn’t. turns out i mixed things up, and i was seeing things. sorry about the confusion. this is what happens when you have more than one art community
that you’re a member of hehehe. so sorry.

Thanks for clearing that up! :)
