Introducing leggings. Step into a world of stunning designs.

I came across this young Aboriginal girl recently at a local fair. One of the displays set up was Galamban and this young girl was learning how to plait (braid) grass / straw in the traditional way.

I have added what I think is a fitting background which is my version of the Aboriginal flag where,
Black: Represents the Aboriginal people of Australia.
Red: Represents the red earth, the red ochre and a spiritual relation to the land.
Yellow: Represents the Sun, the giver of life and protector.

I reside on the South Coast of New South Wales in the St.Georges Basin area which is situated within the bounderies of the Shoalhaven. I take many of my landscapes and seascapes within this area in an effort to share the beauty that it holds.

Nice work Les, great to see traditions like this continuing, and inventive use of background.

  • Thank you Enivea for your kind words. Yes, it is great to see that the traditional ways sre being passed down to younger generations, rather than being lost in the swamp of “Modern" society.
