Steamers Beach can be found in Booderee National Park on the South Coast of New South Wales, Australia.
From the car park it is a walk of 2.5 km into the beach with the last .3km being a steep incline with a set of stairs (approx. 250) down to the beach.
I wouldn’t advise anyone who isn’t at least moderately fit to climb down to the beach. As this (unfit) writer discovered the climb back out can really knock you around.
Steamers is a dangerous beach, and for this reason I wouldn’t recommend swimming there. In Fact it has been rated as one of the most dangerous beaches in Australia, with severe undertows and large sharks because of the near by seal colony. This is an unpatrolled beach with no chance of rescue if you get into trouble. It is a great place to fish but, as I have explained it is a fair walk out with your catch.

I reside on the South Coast of New South Wales in the St.Georges Basin area which is situated within the bounderies of the Shoalhaven. I take many of my landscapes and seascapes within this area in an effort to share the beauty that it holds.

Very nice Les! Come to the Limestone Coast – views like this and they are much easier to get to! :-)

  • Easier would be great….I’m still getting over the climb out. The mind might still be young but the body is saying something else :-( LOL
