Shores of Galway Bay
On Eirne’s ne’er ending shore
stands a maiden weeping forevermore.
She stands weeping, silent and alone;
waiting for one who will never come home.
They were betrothed, this star-crossed pair.
a match made in heaven, both perfect and fair.
Until the day the sea called him away,
and he left her for the waters of Galway Bay.
The maiden watched, hoped and prayed.
and true to her heart she did stay.
But the waters were high and the maid was left alone,
for her wandering Heart ne’er came home.
And so the maiden loves alone,
for her love will never come home.
So she wanders still to this day,
wanders forever on the shores of Galway Bay.
