Blossoms in Bloom by Lenora Brown

This is another of a series I am doing of flowers. I will link the inspired photograph a little later. Though this image was intentionally of an Asian persuasion, the more I drew, the higher the cheekbones and deeper set the eyes became. Seemingly all of the features that looked Asian sort of disappeared …well, at least for me.

This image was created on 11×14 white sketch paper. I used color pencil only. I slightly enhanced the color digitally for the purposes of online presentation and a quality product.

Lenora has been a Counselor/Family Worker for over 20 years. Currently, she has found have an inordinate amount of time working in the geriatric community. Using the time constructively, Lenora was crocheting with some of the ladies, as she use to with her mother who taught her the craft. In so doing, one of the ladies mentioned how she would have liked to have a portrait drawn. Lenora took on the task and was inspired to continue. The illustrations here are mostly inspired by her childhood.

To me she is sad but beautiful, great work :)

  • I thought she looked sad too. I was trying to see if the page views increase because of sad depressed looking faces. So far, that’s what my managed page is telling me. Its the oddest thing. Though I don’t want to stay in that mode of drawing sad, right now, it is what’s selling. Thanks for the comment though. :)
