Browsing over the internet trying to be inspired I found a few photos and wondered if I could mix art nouveau style with Japanese manga. I was also thinking of three particular artists here on this site who have also challenged me more so then the challenges posed on all of the groups I have joined. I am sure you have some too. I suppose when I finish this series, I may give mention to a name or two. They know who they are (smiles).

The struggle with this particular piece was to stay true to black and white especially in the Japanese fashion of Lolita, it was difficult. Then there was also the challenge of creating different texture for interest as well as keeping depth perception in mind. Finally making it a feast for the eyes but not overwhelming. I have learned as long as there is movement in a piece (clockwise), the viewer does not lose interest. This took longer then most of the work I have already submitted. I believe it is why it looks very different as well.

This piece was created on 9×12 sketch paper using fine and medium tipped black ink.

Lenora has been a Counselor/Family Worker for over 20 years. Currently, she has found have an inordinate amount of time working in the geriatric community. Using the time constructively, Lenora was crocheting with some of the ladies, as she use to with her mother who taught her the craft. In so doing, one of the ladies mentioned how she would have liked to have a portrait drawn. Lenora took on the task and was inspired to continue. The illustrations here are mostly inspired by her childhood.
