This is the beginning of a series. I saw a logo on a popular talk show and remembered those ink drawings from the 80’s. I thought to see if I could do my own version.
She looked very exotic to me and sultry; which was my inspiration for the public challenge in the Much More Mucha Group. I then wondered if I could do other women of different ethnicities with their own looks of provocativeness (is that a word?). It was one after another. It took a lot of time and if I didn’t like it – in the shredder it went. There were 3 that just didn’t make it (sigh).

I coupled each piece with a style I learned while trying to study something new in Art Nouveau. The style of flowers are called Jugend Art Nouveau. It began in the late 1800’s and spanned into the beginning of the next century in Germany and later migrated to France. Though first inspiration is from God, these artists were also inspiring for the various kinds of floral arrangements. Their names were:

Gertrud Kleinhemp
Rudolf Witze
Adolf Hofer
E. Volbeht
Erich Kleinhempl
Hans Christiansen
Otto Eckman
C. Neureuther
Wilhelm Keppler
Fritz Hegenbart

I couldn’t find any current work online to refer you to them, but there is plenty to read on the Jugend Style of Art Nouveau.

This piece was drawn on 9×11 drawing paper with fine tipped black ink. I used pink pearlized gel ink for the lip gloss.

Lenora has been a Counselor/Family Worker for over 20 years. Currently, she has found have an inordinate amount of time working in the geriatric community. Using the time constructively, Lenora was crocheting with some of the ladies, as she use to with her mother who taught her the craft. In so doing, one of the ladies mentioned how she would have liked to have a portrait drawn. Lenora took on the task and was inspired to continue. The illustrations here are mostly inspired by her childhood.
