Tower Records began in Sacramento in 1960 when Russell Solomon started selling records in his father’s drugstore located next to the Tower Theater. The drug store is long gone but the neon sign remains above what is now the Tower Cafe. Alas, Tower Records is also gone now but the Tower Theater is still there.
