This little house, carved into the trunk of a giant redwood tree has always made me think of the Hobbits. The house was in Ripey’s Believe or Not in the 1930’s, billed as the world’s tallest one-room house. Giant Redwoods, northern California.

Dynamic capture!! I would love to see how they carved out the insides. I bet it is awesome looking!!

  • Actually the inside was carved out by nature also A fire burned the inside hundreds and hundreds of years ago but the tree kept growing as redwoods often do. The inside is almost 5 stories high, one reason it was billed as the world’s tallest one room houses.

What a wonderful entrance, I wonder what happens when the tree keeps growing, but then it probably grows too slow to notice, beautiful capture Barbara :o)x

  • Actually, growth doesn’t really effect it since it just grown rings on the outside. The inside was actually burned out long before man discovered it and added doors! Thanks so much Josie!
