This macro of a Praying Mantis took a LOT of work as the insect just didn’t want to be bothered. I took to (gasp) moving things behind it to urge it out in the open. I almost NEVER do anything like that as seen in my macros of the black widow spider, the inside of beehives, and dragonflies. But this guy was huge and looked pretty darn good.
This is a re-edit from the series elsewhere in my gallery. As my editing skills improved and my love of HDR bloomed with Oloneo’s PhotoEngine software, I won’t resist revisiting some of my previous images. It’s cool what a dab of HDR can do to make a bug pop right out! You can see just enough of the eye to make this mantis seem as if it’s slyly assessing me and not as annoyed as it really was. LOL!
I’m a “scatter-focus” artist. ANYTHING may be here or roundabout my galleries. Expect nothing anywhere and you’ll always be OK. ;-)

It’s a stunner of a shot Lenny!
Hi Lenny I really like the way you captured this creature. I love the way they watch you when you try to get close to them. Tom
