This remote controller isn’t really a keyboard in the sense most people think of one. Yes, it has keys and it’s a board, albeit one with a strap. But it makes nor sounds sounds; it using a digital link called MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface). MIDI is both a standardized protocol and a “by the company” protocol. In other words, the controls (1 to 126 for triggering events in a “real” keyboard) may or may not work as you want them to. This leads to some really embarrassing moments that are usually forgotten by the time the very drunk listeners get home. (The sober ones are reminding me of MIDI errors from 20 years ago). Then there’s the occasional live recording or (rare) live video broadcast. I have been fortunate enough to botch all possible and live to tell about them. :-)
From the now infamous Superman series, this self portrait in Sacramento’s Capitol Park was taken without the aid of a cape or heels.
Yes, my hand is on the wrong side of the keyboard but I used to play from both sides while being a wildman onstage. The only difference is that I used to actually be touching the keys when performing. And yes, all the extra hair has been removed since this shoot. (I lost .8 pounds without the aid of a diet).
