The small ‘blankey’ Jimmy was resting on had some colour in it, Jimmy’s eyes have colour in them, and there’s some pink on his nose. But as soon as I looked at this shot the way I view most photography – by contrasts instead of hues – it jumped out at me in B&W. PhotoShop CS4 did a remarkable job of nabbing the light in so many different ways that I almost deleted the colour file completely.
Editing inspired by Karirose and her love of The Rule Of Thirds and directed by EBMonster mentoring: ‘Cut off the boring parts!! Chop until it looks like art!!’ In the end, James got to keep most of his face intact (even if off to a “third”) and I’m starting to like the subtle movement away from me shooting as if I’m doing photo documentation. Nobody needs to see the tip-tops of Jimmy’s ears hairs…~nobody except me and I already know what they look like~
I’m a “scatter-focus” artist. ANYTHING may be here or roundabout my galleries. Expect nothing anywhere and you’ll always be OK. ;-)

The Black and White is an excellent choice. You caught his sweet face so perfectly. I dare not say anything more for fear of giving myself undue credit. :) (Yes, I blushed at the mention of my name in giving any sort of inspiration in your photography!)
-and if “me and I” already know what the tops of Jimmy’s ears look like, where was “myself?” Is he offended by kitty ears?-Why is it I knew you’d note the incredibly bad grammar in some humourous fashion? LMAO!
Jimmy WAS being sweet when I took this since he and I were alone for a week of “male bonding” while Cathy was away. He didn’t have much of a choice since it was ‘bond with me’ or ‘live outside’. But you already knew I’ve been offsetting edits because you like it when everything isn’t on the bull’s eye. :-D

Muchas gracias, darling! Jimmy is easily the sweetest feline I’ve ever known. He’s had some issues lately since he’s become an “only cat” who now has a permanant roommate, but he’s one lovable furball who will treat you as an equal (even tho he knows he’s a superior being). :-D

This is a great shot, you really captured a true cat expression. Not an easy thing to do.
Jimmy poses with his completely honest expressions. He doesn’t like to ‘stare at the camera’ and I don’t need to offer him a ‘distracting visual’ to entice him to look away. He could have been a TV star cat and made more money than I ever have! LOL!
