Sacramento's Historic Governor's Mansion: front entryway by

Another shot from the very old and very strange building that used to be the home of California’s Chief Executive Officer. The staircase is fabulous, the phone has been rather oddly commented upon (directly behind the staircase), the rugs have faced my ‘poisoned pen’ (well, poisoned laptop keyboard, anyway), the ornate gingerbread over the doorways is just like the stuff you get at Home Depot (seriously), and the lighting was what I fought to preserve sans flash on my first completely “existing lighting only” shoot.

The Nikon D80 did the honours.

So am I a “bad Californian” since I’ve never seen the Governor’s Mansion? LOL! Interesting shot.

  • Nah, you’re still good Californian. Have to be. I’m older and it took me longer to get there than it could have taken you if we started on the same day at the same time. I have no clue if that utilizes the slightest bit of logic but it sounds good to me at 9:41.55 Monday night, April 13th, 2009.

sometimes available light does the trick

which is exactly what it has done here, giving this a really moody feel

    great shot Lenny

who made “Odd” comments about that phone ?

    Love ‘N’ Laughter Kriss

  • Thank you, bro! The moody feel is pretty accurate, tho the shots seem too warm on the histograms (if I’m reading the darned things right. LOL!)

I made the “odd comments”. I sorta specialize in them, even unintentionally… ;-)

Oh, this is so beautiful. Love the soft lighting.

  • It really looked wonderful – as long as you didn’t question what you were seeing too closely. LOL! The place was prefabricated from various pieces and a lot of it was put together in a rather hodge-podge way. Not the Mystery House but things like a doctor’s office building build inches from the west side, no central air conditioning, rooms too small even for the times… And the decor. LOL! Looks like every mismatched piece of furniture and silverware were gathered together to create a riotous cacophony visual overstimulation. (No, I didn’t just write that from my head. I know I heard it somewhere, someplace even more pretentious than inside me. Hehehe!)

    wow! so georgeous

  • The carpets, velvet door hangings, ceiling lighting, and unbelievable polishing of surfaces created an awesome tour – for $4, or less than a Happy Meal at a fast food restaurant. Some of this place was so beautiful a $10 charge would have been more than reasonable for a viewing. :-)
