First, to clear up any misconceptions: this is me; I’ve played keyboards for about as long as Stevie Wonder has but I suck; he and I are not related (although I might be related to the late Donny Hathaway, another keyboardist); I’m not blind or deaf even tho I can’t see or hear worth spit, and this self-portrait was intentionally focused on the glasses and their reflections so I’m supposed to be deeper in the depth of view, i.e. “out-of-focus”. The more shots I do that are intentionally artsy-fartsy, the more my goofs look intentional. ;-)
My usual order at the former Hamburger Mary’s, now called Hamburger Patties for some dumb—- reason. The ambiance is eclectic with everything from old posters to marionettes on the walls, and constant loud videos playing on multiple screens in the bar. The dining area is casual seating on wooden tables, some along the window looking out upon the passing K Street traffic.
The unique feature of this establishment is that it would be right at home in the middle of San Francisco’s Castro district, i.e. most of the employees and many of the patrons are openly gay and display behaviour often seen in the Bay Area but rarely Sacramento.
No, I’m not (gay) however the burgers are the only ones I will eat from a restaurant in town. But if I dress “correctly”, my Top Shelf Long Island Ice Tea will be the most potent liquid on the planet. I’m not above doing what it takes to get a decently mixed drink so sue me. ;-) Oh yeah, cheese is vile and should never be allowed to share a room with food.
Shot was taken using my Nikon D80 with its 18-55mm kit lens laying on the bar & with the barrel of the lens supported aiming upward by everything within reach. I had to use the auto focus and then switch it off to stop the camera from rolling itself off the support stuff. LOL!
_To this day I don’t know what created a pink halo around my head. It had to be some reflected lighting from a coloured spotlight because there was no light fixture anywhere in that area.- Correction: there WAS a light in the area but it wasn’t on when I went back to look the first time.
