Kidz love to run in Copenhagen... by

Photograph to painting was the name of a challenge that inspired me to go out of my comfort zone and finally learn about using the Pen tool (or Path, if you want).

This digital painting is based on my photograph, where the picture was composed of so wonderfully elementary geometric shapes you could hardly find anything more suitable…

Original photograph: Kastellet fortress, Copenhagen, Denmark. September 2007. Canon EOS 300X, Sigma 28-135. Post-processing: (GIMP) path/selection to form all the basic geometry of the picture, gradient fill, oilify plug-in on the ‘kidz’, (Photoshop Elements) layer effects: bevel and shadow, dodge.

Also available as a sticker, T-Shirt, and kids clothing.

Lenka tries to capture positive emotions. Her work features images highlighting inner and outer beauty of various subjects. She loves finding unique and unexpected perspectives of subjects normally considered as ordinary.

Seems I am not the only on who is getting out of a comfort zone these days. This has a lot of appeal. Will you be doing some more (please)?

Lenka, I haven’t a clue how you did this, but those two kids running look wonderful. Love their shadows. You might have a new style?

  • Thank you! I’m so glad you like it, Jan!
The original photograph looked nearly like this, just some extra minor details ;) But it looked so graphical I knew I have to do something with it to emphasize the look just a bit…
I’m playing with another photo now, but it has more elements and lacks the kids, so it ends up probably less attractive…
