Adrspach rock city, next to the village of Adrspach, Czech Republic, is a paradise for climbers. Beautiful sandstone formations are also popular destination for tourists from many countries. The rocks shown on my photograph are called Major and Major’s wife (Starosta a Starostova).

Magnificent. I assume these are carved, as per Mount Rushmore, but despite Googling it I can’t find who is responsible.

  • No, this is pure nature work :) It is a fascinating rock city, and extremely popular with tourists… Last time we were there, we had to queue about 2 hours for entrance tickets! (one of few nature spots in the Czech Republic where you have to pay for…)

The one at the right has a head and shoulders … amazing likeness to a human being, considering it is natural.

  • Yes, that’s why they are called Major and Major’s wife (Starosta a Starostova) :)
