Original work will be showing at the International Florence Biennale 2009. Finalist work Aesthetica Magazine Annual Works Comp 2008.
An attraction to this piece tells of a desire for energy and liberation, and an absence from thoughts of the past and future. The female intertwining forms carry a strong invitation for sensual awareness of the body’s instincts. The red tones bring alertness and vitality and together with the stimulating yellow tones asks the viewer to let go of emotional concerns in favour of connecting to the present moment. The yellow acts to stimulate and inspire, the red symbolising rising heat and passion.
As much as the painting symbolsies sensuality and sexual liberation however, it also symbolises womanhood and an appreciation for feminine form and emotive power. The title “I Am Woman, So Am I” invites the female viewer to recognise, appreciate and harness their own feminine strength from both an emotive and sensual perspective.
