Cry Baby Cry - Pop Not by L. R. Emerson II by

L. R. Emerson has established yet another New Art Movement named “Pop Not” – genuine Pop Art styled social criticism with Pop styled, collages and punchy graphics but far removed from the kitschy, pseudo Pop Art existing today. L. R. Emerson II documented in the Purple Tree; Art in A Boundless Age the relevance and mission of Pop Not artists and the socially critical work they produce.

A sculuptor and former professor assosicated Emerson, Dr. Marvin Tadlock made the brass ccross featured in duplicate, multiples within the work to mimic the duplicative, “cookie cutter” or machine age we live in. The photo segements of the work were created in 1999.

To me patterns take on a life of their own, like living entities existing within the mind and I cannot help but to give them their due in the spotlight. Though we’ve involved museums around the globe in my work I am simply content working alone, researching and developing more patterns.
