L. R. Emerson has established yet another New Art Movement named “Pop Not” – genuine Pop Art styled social criticism with Pop styled, collages and punchy graphics but far removed from the kitschy, pseudo Pop Art existing today. L. R. Emerson II documented in the Purple Tree; Art in A Boundless Age the relevance and mission of Pop Not artists and the socially critical work they produce.
A sculuptor and former professor assosicated Emerson, Dr. Marvin Tadlock made the brass ccross featured in duplicate, multiples within the work to mimic the duplicative, “cookie cutter” or machine age we live in. The photo segements of the work were created in 1999.
