Wonderful metallic look to this …has to be a fav!!! You are fortunate it was only the evil eye – I got the rough side of a woman’s tongue locally yesterday – nasty piece of work, in a completely unsigned open place!!

  • Thanks Rosalie! Hmmmm it amazes me how paranoid some people are about cameras and photography. As an experiment I went to 3 different city train stations on the same day to see what the story was with taking photos at a railway station, got 3 completely different answers varying from “Yeah no worries mate, just sign in and here’s your security pass, can use ya tripod too” to “Oh I don’t know, why wasn’t I notified of this by email?” to “Yes but no close ups of faces” which 10 minutes later turned into "What the f___ are you doing? No photo’s allowed! (you just said yes 10 mins ago, there’s no signs saying no photography and what about the dozen tourists over there snapping away?) QVB has a no tripod rule so the public don’t trip over your tripods outstretched legs, fair enough, but when I asked about a monopod things didn’t not compute and even after a practicle demonstration to centre management (politely of course) they had to have a mini meeting to discuss if I person could trip over a monopod in use. Unless they walk between my legs when I’m shooting I don’t see how :). Anyway thanks too for the fav!

Bloody hell!!! This is fantastic!! Very Harry Potterish I reckon which is probably the effect that the legend – the Sigma 10~20 – gives the image a. The view through the skylight is an excellent twist and beautifully handled. In fact the whole image is beautifully handled, POV, the people right down below, the composition, the colours, the excellent HDR – I could go on – and all hand held too!!!
Top image Leigh. An inspiration. Thank you.

  • Wow thanks Jeff, what a compliment! Yep the Sigma 10-20 has become my favourite lens, I don’t think for the price you can beat it in the wide angle market, seems to get better every time I use it. Hand held with some careful bracing my elbow against the railing, but ISO 400 helped too. If you zoom in a long way through the sky light just to the left of the clock you can see a contruction worker with hard hat working on the roof. Thanks again Jeff!
