An iPad sketch using ZenBrush. The simple lines and minimal detail hopefully give this image a sort of Zen-like charm :)
zen, landscape, dawn, red, meditate
My artwork ranges from the traditional, to the slightly offbeat.
With the wildlife and landscape, paintings, I like a more photo-realistic approach, with light, colour, emotion and a sense of space, being key components.
My cartoons are a little quirky, with themes and styles varying according to mood.

I think the title does not lend itself to what you’re intending Tom, only because it is an apocalypse reference. The image has nice flow to it but red is an alarm colour. I am both fascinated but disturbed by the image. Please delete comment if you wish.
Not at all – Art is designed to be provocative and to evoke comment. I am an Aries and red doesn’t evoke alarm in me :)
Good that you have mixed feelings. Interestingly, as the Arab world transits from years of oppression, I suppose you could say they are experiencing a “Red Dawn” Is is a dawn tinged with blood, no doubt, but as the sun rises higher, the air should clear and the cost will hopefully have been deemed worthwhile. Once they are able to breathe in the new air of freedom, the previously oppressed populations will hopefully make changes to benefit all their people. They may have been, “seeing red” for a long while, but only now have reached the point where it was released to create, hopefully, a higher good.
I guess it’s a perspective thing :) Thanks for your honest comment Anne. I really do appreciate that -much better than silence.

It’s wonderful..well done!
Thanks a lot catherine
It’s funny but my first take on it is such a preconditioned response. Hard to put that aside sometimes. But I look again to see what else is there. Lots of things come to mind. I guess we’re born in blood so red dawn is apt! And it should not be an all-encompassing reaction, should it! I like a reaction too … as you say, silence is deafening when it’s all we hear to something that is a part of us put out there for others to regard. Food for thought.
You are such a creative soul Anne. Thanks for all your perspectives. Food for thought indeed.
