polar bear acrylic
An acrylic painting I did in 2002. In certain lights it looked almost as though it would swim right out of the pic and into the lounge :) I used an airbrush, for the first time to get the light beams effect. He is a Johannesburg zoo polar bear in real life, or should that be “unreal” :( Climate Change has already made huge inroads into their habitat…
polar bear acrylic belongs to the following groups:
Endangered Species, Exotic Mammals, Painters In Modern Times, Realist Traditional Art and ZoophoriaAvailable for sale as Cards

I’d love to see your artwork in real life. I don’t believe computers do justice to paintings. This bear looks perfect there, but as you said, real light would make it seem surreal. Do you exhibit your work?

Thanks Cvail. I do exhibit and have some work at the Saints Gallery in Sans Souci,Sydney and I also join in with the Oatley 101 art gp exhibitions. I plan to exhibit at more galleries this year and market myself a little better. I might have to spend less time with my “Digital fantasy” obsession :)

Tom Godfrey in reply to Jewd’s comment, 5 months ago
thanks Jewd. I hadn’t thought of it that way, but you are right, I do feel an affinity for our wild cousins, whom we often abuse through ignorance or design.

Another gorgeous piece! Again if you would care to add it to the Endangered Species group I would be most grateful! The only requirement is the listing of their status (endangered) and their main threats (human stupidity… er, I mean, global warming, loss of habitat, and so on).
Tom Godfrey in reply to ECGardner’s comment, 25 days ago
thanks for the invite EC – I am honoured.
