When I saw the bear theme on the front page, I decided to upload one of my favourite pastels. The ref pic was taken at the Johannesburg Zoo, in South Africa and the background was invented :) With permanent ice sheets retreating and habitat being reduced, I felt I had at least immortalised this guy in a landscape which he would no doubt prefer to be in.

    This is so beautiful! I love it. It would be great in Voices for Animals if you wanted to add a message about melting ice caps or protecting our environment – something on behalf of the polar bears. Wonderful job!

    You have to fear for the future of these majestic animals as the ice sheets retreat. Friends of mine came back from Canada sad to see skinny Polar Bears looking for food in rubbish bins etc .

    Love your bear. I stance you have got him on is wonderful as if he is thinking about his next action. I have been to Alaska but didn’t get to see these guys but have seen them in zoos. Great landscape….....Sandy

    thanks sandy. I have only seem them in a zoos in a hot climate and I did feel sad for them. This was the only way I could release him.

    Thanks Lynda. True. reminds me of that old joke…How do you catch a polar bear? ....cut a hole in the ice and put a ring of peas around it. When the bear goes for a pea, you kick him in the ice hole! :)
