The Embalming Error

A little fun with textures. I experimented with a pencil sketch I had done a while back. The story, as always suggested itself while the drawing was evolving…

With the fluids still pumping through his veins, the Pharaoh stumbled across the sandy wastes. His preparation for the after-life had not gone well and he suspected that his awakening had happened, just a little too early. His brain was foggy and his tongue felt thick and heavy in his mouth. He had asked for the miniaturisation process, but how far had they progressed, he wondered, before the disturbance. Something else was wrong, why did his head feel so huge? He stumbled on.

I’m not seeing too well either, he thought, then he made the mistake of trying to rub his eyes. His scream would have awoken the rest of the sleeping pharaohs, if he could have opened his mouth.

Very surreal. The mouth and tongue kind of remind me of “Jabba the Hut” from Star Wars. LOL
