Fridge Magnet
Lucky me :) Yay! I got to do the cover art for issue 35 of the
Andromeda Spaceways
magazine. Enough time has passed since publication for me put the drawing onto rb. It is a great mag, so if your interest has been tweaked, pop along to their site and get the online version. The story this image relates to is by Lettie Prell and is entitled, “Earth For Dummies”.
Fridge Magnet belongs to the following groups:
Character Development, Fantasy Art, Humorous Illustrations ( NO PHOTOGRAPHY ) , Monsters Ink and Sci Fi Available for sale asGreeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints, Framed Prints and Posters

LMAO – that is soooo funny. He should have read the guide before trying out the ol wasabi (then again, I got caught by it with my early forays into sushi land too). It’s a wonderful work, Tom. Just fantastic. Love the concerned look on the teddy bear!!!!
Tom Godfrey replied
I have never tried it, but it was a main feature in the story, so I had to include it. The visiting aliens were normally quite friendly, but they needed to feed late at night and had a weakness for Wasabi, which had unfortunate consequences for family pets and little humans :)

Congrats, Tom. Very nice. What I like most about your artwork is your ability to entertain the eye with humor; very creative, and it makes you think more about what is happening in the picture. :-)
Tom Godfrey replied
Thanks Mr Thoughtful. I do try to keep a sense of fun, even with the scarier pics.
Tim Mellish

What a fantastic creative mind you have Master Tom, and, fortunately for us, you have that special skill to put it onto paper. Apart from all else your matery of light and shadow is brilliant. Is that jelly quivering naturally or in fright?
Tom Godfrey replied
Thanks Sir Brian. Probably from fright and from being prodded. :)
ToastedGhost
Excellent work!

Shanina Conway
Congratulations Tom…and this is pure magic…although it looks a little like my hubby raiding the fridge at midnight ;)
Tom Godfrey replied
LOL thanks Shanina. Was he always this good looking? :)
Shanina Conway
Before I got glasses he was;)
Tom Godfrey replied
LOL :) Welcome back.
Anne van Alkemade
it’s very very very hot. I thought he tasted it by accident, thus the need to bite the fridge. Isn’t it funny at times how images and stories can have so different a meaning!
Tom Godfrey replied
Looking at it through your eyes that makes perfect sense and I would have reached the same conclusion – thanks for the comment Anne

Giggle. For some reason, the alien reminds me of my dog…mostly because her greatest wish is to fit the entire fridge inside her mouth.
I love how he thinks he’s hiding behind the thing, and at the same time, the little kid doesn’t even seem to notice the big purple monster, the snot, or the fact that the refridgerator is slightly askew.
Tom Godfrey replied
:) Thanks Julie – my little dachund has a similar dream :) Yeh I tried to create that sort of dramatic visual tension -good to know it works. thanks for stopping by and leaving a cool comment.
MillicentMorrow

Tom Godfrey replied

pookieanne
i think this is my favorite so far
is this too digital
it is very painterly
and i know a few of your works which i thought were paintings were in fact digital
Tom Godfrey replied
Hi Pookieanne. I use Corel Painter on my pencil sketches. It is a great program for artists, because the brushes behave in a most realistic way. I try to keep the loose painterly effects where I can -seems to help the energy of the piece. I also don’t try to hide the fact that I use a computer drawing program. My digital paintings take longer than most of my pastels do :) Thanks for your many wonderful comments on my work.
pookieanne
that is what i thought
i do love them
i am not quite as computer saavy
my work is mostly oils and acrylics
oh yeah and tattoos
my website for the tatts is www.mindmagik.wetpaint.com

Tom Godfrey replied
