Pauline had been aware of Arthur creeping artlessly through the long grass for some time. Having led him deep into the jungle, she swung around and fixed him with long, hard stare.
“Take your hand off it, Arthur.” she growled menacingly.
Arthur let his gun slip gently from his grasp onto the ground. “I didn’t mean….” he began to say, his mouth dry.
“QUUUUIIIIEEETTTT” she roared. “You’ve said enough.”
Minutes passed. The air was thick with the smell of his sweat….and urine. Suddenly she turned and leaped into the trees without a sound.
“Dear God” Arthur prayed.
