Mistaken Identity

Mistaken Identity

This drawing is about faces in a crowd…stopped at an intersection perhaps, waiting to cross the road. She glances over her shoulder at you. A momentary glimpse of recognition passes between two strangers.A connection felt….was it just imagination, or…..? The lights have changed. Everyone’s moving again. The bubble is broken…..she means nothing to you or you to her. Life goes on.

Great work Lee,are you painting for a body of work to exhib? I love the movement and void of a portrait in the faces you have captured walking through life ….as we all do .Love these last two pieces alot….keep it up….not that im one to say….but i think this is gr8! lots of time in cafes?

  • Lee Wilde replied

Thanks Varry. I haven’t got any plans to exhibit….whenever the thought crosses my mind, I think I’m not ready yet. Perhaps I need a date to work towards.

Cafes? Yeah….but I like to see what’s going on at eye level. I walk around in the city a lot. I’ve figured out that if I dress in office clothes, with a handbag under one arm and a glance at my watch every now and then (as if I’m waiting to meet someone)....I can stand and watch people walking by, without looking out of place.

The thing about looking at my watch is funny…...seeing as I don’t wear a watch :-p

Wow… this one is really fantastic Lee. The guy stopped and glancing back over his shoulder adds some element of danger for me… great work

  • Lee Wilde replied

Thanks Mario. Have you ever glimpsed someone just for a second and felt a pang of recognition? Someone who could have been everything to you…..is nothing to you…and you are nothing to her.

Fabulous again Lee…....when are we going to see you exhibiting all this gorgeous work????

  • Lee Wilde replied

Thanks Alexandra. Exhibiting? But that would severely impact on the time I spend daydreaming :)) I need a rocket, I think :))

Lee dear, I have indeed… I have stared endlessly at times and wondered how it was that I “knew” someone …. what was pulling me towards them… destiny? love?. This is a very, very powerful thing you have captured

  • Lee Wilde replied

Thanks Amanda. I read vision splendid ....interesting… although I get the feeling there was a lot more you wanted to say. Perhaps a second verse when you’re in the mood?

I love this… All the faceless people, it reminds me of a poem I once wrote. :)

  • Lee Wilde replied

Thanks Jennifer. Which poem? Can you add a link to it or post it here?

as always lee, you’re spot on with your observation . . . when all is said & done there’s always more to say & do . . . a 2nd or 3rd verse could peel back enough layers to let the naked truth stand out in the crowd for all to see . . .
    xXx
