Common Beard-Orchid

Personally I think there is nothing common about it! It’s botanical name is: Calochilus robertsonii.

This little beauty was photographed today at Sinclare’s Gully Winery & Cellar Door at Norton Summit in the Adelaide Hills. It is the only eco- certified cellar door in the hills & the wine is very nice. They are also restoring the bush, and it is home to some wonderful native orchids and plants, as well as some stunning bird life such as the Sacred Kingfisher & the Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoo.

It was a wonderful afternoon. We had a tour through the bush & then lunch & wine under the magestic candle bark trees….which included a pair of Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoos in plain view up amongst the branches.

I can’t think of a better way to spend an afternoon, good company, food & wine, whilst relaxing amoungst our stunning native vegetation & wildlife…pure bliss!

Stunning orchid and shot! Love your framing. I wish I had a macro lens to capture all the tiny orchid natives we are seeing in the hills here now too!
