I had the absolute pleasure of joining Mike Bossley out on his dolphin research boat again.
This photograph is of Wave & her calf Tallulah. The white patch on Wave’s flank is possibly sunburn or a chemical burn. Wave is one of the famed Tail Walking Port River Bottlenose dolphins.
It is such an amazing experience to see these beautiful creatures swimming amongst the mangroves & around the old ship ruins, and then incongruisly, to see them swimming past outer harbour, with it’s massive container ships, and then on past all our poluting industry which has grown up along the banks of the Port River.
While I was with Mike his phone was ringing hot due with queries regarding the Port River Dolphins Tail Walking, due to a programme which recently aired in Aust & various places overseas – he even received a call from Germany!
Let us hope that the interest generated helps protect these beautiful creatures & their water environment.
