Ahhhh Records!!! The Vinyl Kind

I have been without a record player for 4 year, and I’ve just remedied this with a Reba P1 & it is sweet, sooooo sweeeet!

All these records I haven’t been able to listen to for 4 years are finally back on the turntable where they belong, making sweet sounds and bringing back some good old memories.

Please indulge me for a moment, as I’m really excited :)

Here’s the playlist:

Uriah Heep, Yes, Hawkwind, Rainbow, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Bad Company, Simon & Garfunkle, Peter, Paul & Mary, The Beatles (my mums’ old record) The Everly Brother, Elvis (the record I got in 1977, when he died), John Denver, Rob Buchanan, John Mayall, David Lindley, Bobby Bland, Bony M, the soundtracks to: The Sting (RIP Paul Newman), Grease, Footloose and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Duran Duran, Abba, and some good old fashioned Aussie Rock & Pop in the form of Chain, Cold Chisel, Split Enz, Mondo Rock, The Flowers & Molly’s Aus. Evolution…..

So I’m putting down the camera for a while – the weather’s crap anyway – Grabbing a drink, cranking up the volume & I’m gonna dance around the lounge room!

Hope your all having a good Saturday nite too :)

Cheers!

Yes, that’s one draw-back with records…that & the fact that the stylus doens’t return to it’s rest at the end of the record…I should be safe with the dancing though as I’ve got a tile floor, providing I don’t drink too much and loose my balance! lol ; )

Lucky You! Many moons ago I used to have an all-in-one Pye Sterio with a Record Player, then I moved to individual components & when I upgraded my Amp they assured me I could use my record player….but I couldn’t and I needed to get a pre-amp….it’s taken me long time to get around to it as it was about 4 years ago that I got interested in photography…so all my money went on lenses etc, and the record player got put on the back burner…but I just got my tax return & thought it was high time I got a record player & pre-amp…I’ve missed my records!

Did you get the one that can record to CD & mp3 files?

  • Leeo replied

My tax return wasn’t that big Shaz! But I could record them on to a cassette tape! LOL : )

hehehe, It’s a bit like that isn’t it!.

I was trying to explain some things about the record player to my much younger sister, but the record player was before her time, and it was lost on her…..A younger friend came over to help me set it up. He does have a record player, but was facinated when he saw me wipe down the record with the cleaner – you know, that little block that is covered in velvety stuff to pick up the fluff? He’d never seen one before & thought it was a great invention : )

I got my first record player when I was about 5-6. It was plastic & I used to play my Disney records on it & follow along with the book – thought I think I just looked at the pictures, then I progressed to Abba & had all their records : )

‘Scuse the long rant, but having this record player is bringing back some memories!
