In Memory of Mr Percival
This image was photographed nearish to Long Point looking over the water to the Younghusband Peninsula of the Coorong.
‘Storm Boy’ is the wonderful story by Colin Thiele, which was made into a film & stared the Pelican ‘Mr Percival’, who captured the hearts of Australians. Sadly Mr Percival passed away recently, of old age, at the Adelaide Zoo.
I recently had the amazing experience of camping in a very remote area of the Coorong. It was an unforgetable experience & is truly a wonderful place, with so much history & incredible natural value…and it is suffering terribly from drought & water mis-management.
Here are some intersting articles about Mr Percival, and the loss of important breeding grounds for birds, due to drougt.
