This watercolour pencil image was painted on our patio this winter in La Manzanilla, Mexico. We were surrounded by many birds including flycatchers, parrots, orioles and caciques. Fortunately, this kiskadee “posed” on the nearby electrical wire long enough for me to sketch the beginnings on this small painting with the hint of palms in the distance.

I have become an active artist since retirement. Water colour pencil is my major medium, and my subject matter is the beauty of nature – in the many countries we have visited, in the wonderful landscape of my British Columbia home, and in the memories of my prairie childhood.
