Melbourne’s Arts & Gardens precinct offers a world of (mostly free) ways to while away the day. Catch a performance at the Arts Centre, an exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria or your breath in the Royal Botanic Gardens. It’s all within strolling distance of St Kilda Road and Flinders St station.
The cafe’s and restaurants of Southbank and Federation Square offer plenty of choices for lunch. On the other hand, a picnic at the wonderful Birrarung Marr is a perfect option on a fine day.
The Shrine of Remembrance stands soberly at the centre of the precinct, on St Kilda Road. Although not as flashy as its counterparts, The Shrine is a fascinating place to visit.
For a shot of culture and relaxation all in one day, it’s hard to go past Melbourne’s Arts & Gardens precinct.
