As we drew closer to Coffs Harbour that old excitement began to well up again. My husband and I built up The Big Banana to an almost iconic level to our kids.
Not even the bright colours of Port Welshpool Wharf could warm the winter’s day.
Unfortunately for us, the weather meant long walks on the beach or adventures through the bush were off the agenda. Instead we set about familiarising ourselves with the town.
You’ve probably heard Port Fairy, on Victoria’s south-west coast, being described as quaint, romantic and a foodie’s paradise. It is all those things. Over summer, it’s also a hive of family…
Who would have thought we’d find one of Australia’s most successful multicultural communities in south west New South Wales?
Just a stone’s throw from Melbourne, the You Yangs is a great place to relax or run yourself ragged. The choice is yours.
