ETERNAL WATCH

It breathes colors like a never ending fire
Pouring forth speech
To the fathomless sky
Its bride, its source and companion

Those who stumble by can only gasp
And feel the surrender
To one greater that knows
So many secrets

A witness to endless stories told beneath boughs and leaves
Tethered in time
To such an anchor
That raises all its arms in defiance of the ordinary

All has been seen – even giants, beings of time and space
Of lovers below its wings
Writing a script
Of life under the giver of life

How we long to know the whole of wisdom
The spectrum of courage
The purples and fierce shades
That stand ever ablaze over shepherds and Kings

Abounding in one colossal testimony to greatness
To everything proud
To determination and light
That provides over each one of us who understands – an eternal watch

    It’s a beautiful pastel Leslie….

  • Thanks Janis! Its both acrylic and pastel :-) It was different working on canvas with these two – it gave it a more rugged texture than paper.

Just gorgeous Leslie, lovin’ this heaps! Mieke will just love this!!!!

  • HI Kathie! Thank you! This one was quite fun with all the colors! In answer to your Q about fixative. I fix at the end but not along the way – I suppose I could, I just never thought if it and the pastels were binding fine to the acryliced canvas, albeit with alot more texture than on pastel paper. I have never tried this combo before and liked the texture. Thank you again. Its been great workshopping with you Kathie – you are so positive:-)

Beautiful palette and work, Leslie. I love how these tree branches support the entire structure of the image— so strong; and, yet, overall, the work is loose and expressive. Linear abstraction, multi-directional slashes, composition and color, all work together to gorgeous effect.

  • You always say such rich and affirming things Frannie – what a gift! Thank you so much!!. I really enjoyed this piece, throwing in bright color to the finish!:-)
