“The torment of the skies was her torment… rooted to the ground she swayed in concert with the gale, twisting and turning…” …JZroback…The Last Storm
This is my mixed media translation for Sojie 14 Janis Zroback’s watercolor, Storm which the writing above accompanied. I discovered the writing after I painted this translation!
The storms, of all kinds, and of life, can be intense, powerful, unpredictable – full of energy and passion. That passion outside of us also resides within us giving us the strength and endurance to break through and survive.

And here I thought you were basing it on my poem…..that is a case of real psychic ability Leslie…..congratulations on a wonderful translation….
Isn’t that crazy! I was turning in last night after finishing the work and thought, "Janis often writes or has poems attached to her work, I should check!! "- a wonderful discovery to say the least! I had seen the line under your work in Sojie 14 after I decided to do a portrait and thought, “how cool, it’s about a woman!”
I am glad you like it Janis! – that means alot!!

What a powerful, graphic work, Leslie. I love the dramatic shadows on her face and her disturbed but determined gaze through the blowing trees and storm. It was great to see how you planned out this work and executed it to the finish. Your complimentary colors rule.
Thank you Frannie!! You give the greatest feedback!! I am glad you caught the complimentary colors – I had a good time with that! It came out more graphic than originally intended, but I am bent a bit in that direction so what can I do! ;-)
