The morning of 9/30/11 was absolutely gorgeous at Mt. Katahdin – except the summit was concealed by clouds. Sharon and I took a drive up the Golden Road (logging road) and this was the view of Mt. Katahdin taken from the area near the Appalachian Trail. While we were there, we saw many hikers with full beards who began hiking from Georgia. Mt. Katahdin is the northern end of the Appalachian Trail.
