The Old St. Nicholas Coal Breaker, located just outside of Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania, began operating in 1932. At one time it was the largest coal breaker in the world. When raw coal entered the production process within the breaker it took just 12 minutes to pass through the entire breaker. St. Nicholas remained in operation for 31 years, and prepared all sizes of famous Reading Anthracite for the markets of the world.
Today it is a mammoth, unique, historical, dilapidated building ~ no trespassing?
