This natural photo was taken on a VERY blustery day in February 2008. This poor little cardinal was having a bad hair day, and had to dig his claws in so he wouldn’t blow away. He was nibbling on some sunflower seeds that I put out for the wildlife.
The male cardinal is all red with a black mask, a large red bill and a crest. They are non-migrators and eat seeds, insects and fruit and are common visitors at bird feeders.
