I believe all evil should be locked away
far, far from the light of day
or it’ll grow like fire in the wind
humanity will slowly, surely descend.
I believe if you put evil in front of your face
eventually you make it commonplace!
Things that were once rejected
will be easily and readily accepted.
I see it on the tv screen each day
it’s on when the kids come in from play
sex, drugs, violence, blood, guts and war
Lucifer himself after your very soul.
Endless billboards, one after another
cigarettes, wine and gin…brother!
gamblin’, nudity and sex on the beach
feelin’ outta’ touch…outta’ reach.
Headlins, gossip and our daily lives
read them, oh Lord and hear our cries!
Murder, rape and theives in the street
cops daily turn the back on the beat.
And I wonder what happened to yesterday
when children could laugh and play?
Sing a song of sixpence…yadda..yadda……rye,
Georgie and the girls who made him cry?
Hide and seek and all come in free
tootsie toys, bee bee bumble bee
tops, tiddley winks and jacks
and “not steppin’ on the cracks”?
Daddy worked , mama stayed home
kids had chored, no time to roam,
collectin’ bottles, savin’ green stamps,
clubs, hideout,s and scout camps.
Nowadays we just don’t care
if Lil’ Zack wants green spiked hair
granny’s too busy, she’s at the gym
Brother John wants to be sister Kim.
The world turns around the green
greediest people you ever seen
kill you for the ring on your hand
sure looks bleak for all of man.
Inspite of all these dreadful things
there is hope for human beings
see Jesus is just a standin’ by…
patiently waitin’ your beckon cry!
Ask, it says and ye shall receive
all is possible if you only believe!
Angels on high will gather around
You will be the joy they found.
It’s never too late to do what is right
even if you think with all your might
that there is no way He’d listen to you
He saved me and I know He’ll save you!
And this little light o’ mine
used to hide it… now it shines
so that everyone I see
will see the “Jesus” in me!
