Thank you Donna!
Was a tough commission for me involving combining a few photos and removing a headcollar and shadows etc. I am always so nervous drawing/painting when I am having to ‘make up’ bits. My client was really pleased with this one though so my confidence might be a bit higher next time :)

I know what you mean about having to ‘make parts up’ when working from more than one photo, but you did a beautiful job, as you always do Donna. Might I ask is you burnish your pencilwork. I use several coloured pencils makes including the ones you mention, but find difficulty in getting lights over darks. Perhaps there is a solution, fixative perhaps, which might help.

Thanks Brian! Yes, I do tend to burnish my pencil work. I find the trick with these pencils is to have the right amount of tooth on the paper- enough to get all the layers of colour I need. So long as there is enough tooth at the end for the lightest colour to go over it usually comes together. Usually!
