I struck out high and wide into the farthest desert skies.
Grinnin’ silly, sittin’ pretty, trippin’ to the rhyme.
The hues below a wildfire, splashed across the land.
I dabbed my sight in deepest blue, to lucidate the vision.
Through the portal-left I dropped my gaze from up-on high,
saw that which her ancient heart for-ever had desired.
Awe I felt to say the least, awash in radiance;
the antiquated reflection of love she lost inside.
Lulled to sleep by storms-below,
stars-a-crossed and lines adjourned;
I laughed my way inside.
One inclined to look to see
the light adrift out starboard.
One to feel the things we said
against the walls behind us.
Will there ever be a thing
that I could rightly say,
to make you think or feel
the things she needs to make you see?
Was there ever meant to be
a way away for me?
will you be there waiting when
I find my way back home?
All the rest had gone to war,
stars were long since fallen.
Nothing you had known-since
had ever kept you safe.
