This is a view through one of the many windows in the loft of the restaurant and store of John Wright’s in Columbia Pennsylvania. This is a space that I would LOVE to be able to decorate and furnish. The loft has not yet been restored, but I have high hopes that they will soon do that. This huge brick building is a lovely old foundry that has been partially restored to house a restaurant and gift shop. It overlooks the Susquehanna River there, and has a gorgeous view of the old bridge. A peaceful and attractive location, it would make a great choice for a celebratory meal and gathering, or an outdoor wedding. It was the last stop on a fantastic spring day out with my friends Adam and Amanda.
I cannot comment on the food, as we had a late lunch and none of us was hungry when we stopped, but we plan to come back at a later time to try the food and enjoy the view from the windows of the restaurant.
I CAN speak for the gift shop, and as with most gift shops, nearly everything in it is a severely overpriced trinket or doo-dad. Even the useful items are so outrageously priced (a whopping $30 for a t-shirt that sports the words ‘Life Is Good’) that one would have to have an exorbitant amount of disposable income in order to feel comfortable buying much of anything from them. I did manage to find a beautiful cobalt blue bowl that I will use as a centerpiece on my coffee table, it was much more reasonably priced than most everything there.
Thank you, Adam and Amanda, for once again including me in your plans for the day.

Wonderful window shot my friend…………..;-))
Looks like an interesting and historic stop!
It was and I found myself really drawn to the loft… I would love to own one… and be able to afford to transform it any way I want it…

Sounds like a wonderful place! To bad the gift shop is so expensive though. This is really a beautiful capture and the composition is just wonderful. Well done!
Thank you very much, Robert… and yes, about the prices.. I think it is the nature of gift shops… but we can hope someone will see the error of their ways. : )
