This is a shot that was taken on a spring day, May 29, 2010 at the conservatory at Longwood Gardens. While lining up this shot, I was in a bit of a rush to avoid a crowd of people coming up behind me and another large group that would have been coming toward me out of the door you see in the frame. Timing was critical, as it was a busy day at the gardens. In my haste, I failed to focus correctly for depth of field, so the farther objects are slightly blurred. I never liked that about this photo, so I never posted it. Not wanting to waste it completely, I decided that a textured layer might help.

The layer has added a bit of unexpected light and dark in places where there was none. I also embossed it to make it appear slightly more grainy. I was finally content enough with it to add it to my RedBubble gallery. All feedback is greatly appreciated.

Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square Pennsylvania

My thanks to Adam and Amanda for including me in their plans for the day.

I think it looks wonderful! I’m still trying to learn the layering techniques that you got me hooked on about a year ago!! XXSUEXX

  • Thank you, Sue! I took about fifteen minutes with this one… and then said that’s it… I don’t care for overworked manipulation. Although, I myself sometimes do it… its difficult sometimes to know when to stop! So glad you like it. : )

Very nice “rescue job”, Robyn. A lovely greenhouse!

  • I would love to have something like this of my own, Mike… but if you could see my garden right now, you’d wonder how long it would be before I ruined it!

Beautifully done Robyn, I love your reply to Sue!! I don’t care for overworked manipulation. Although, I myself sometimes do it… its difficult sometimes to know when to stop! I find myself there lots of times. This one however is gorgeous & dreamy looking. Would be perfect for note cards, etc. Would look good on a wall too

  • What a terrific series of compliments, Bonnie! Thank you! I think we all go overboard with fiddling once in a while, but I DO try not to. Thanks again for the nice things you’ve had to say about this piece. : )
