As butterflies taste with their feet, I couldn’t help wondering what the flowers on this butterfly bush must have tasted like to this passing diner.

    Wonderful shot, Robyn! Beautiful!

  • Thank you, Mike! Pure luck it was… I took a co-worker home one day and this bush is on their property… otherwise I would have never been there.

Wow………………he must be in Heaven then……….;-))

  • The first time I saw a butterfly realy inspecting something with its feet, I had no idea that is where their tasting senses are… I was just fascinated with it.

Magnificent capture Robyn! This has got to be one of the best Swallowtails I’ve seen this year! XXSUEXX

  • I was telling my friend that this butterfly must have been ‘brand new’… he just laughed at me…. but I meant that it had very little damage or wear to the wings and the coloring was still nicely intense. Thank you for your supportive comments, Sue… much appreciated from a butterfly photo genius such as yourself!

Beautiful shot, made all the more interesting by your revelation about their feet! I never knew this, but it brings so much more to the image. The creature really looks intense about the whole business of walking, and its wings look like some half-forgotten cape billowing on the wind.

  • Oh! It’s one of the cool butterfly fact I have learned over the past few years… so glad you like it, Panda. I think of you often. : )
