In “Where There’s Smoke”, art and humor merge, in this expressionist painting depicting ta woman or girl walking away from a house that’s burning on fire. From her expressionist, we can see that she does not appear to be alarmed. Rather she is strangely quiet and observant. That’s because this example of figurative expressionism, is actually an allegorical social commentary. The rich expressionist work has implications from psychology, politics, human releationships, and communication. As such, it may also be viewed as a study of the mystical, spiritual, philosophy, artistic, creative, inspirational and motivational aspects of life. The work was executed using action painting techniques, in mixed media on masonite.
As a figurative abstract painting, the work can also be classified as outsider art, art brut, visionary art or raw art.
