This image features a vintage Kodak safelight which is contained in a Kodak Amateur all-in-one Printer circa 1938.
The accompanying Velox booklet describes the printer as a wooden box containing “a printing light, darkroom light, automatic masking device and printing-frame, all in one – a compact quick and convenient contact printer for negatives from 1 5/8 × 2 1/2 to 3 1/4x 5 1/2 and 4×5”. Electrically lighted"
Red safelights are used for black and white printing in the traditional darkroom. (amber safelights are used for a specific type of paper)
Crackling on surface of bulb is due to age/use
