Khumbu Skyline
This was the culmination of my trek in 07. Having succumbed to one of the worst headaches ever on my previous day’s attempt at climbing Kala Pathar, I had the choice of going to base camp or climbing Kala Pathar 5550m. Naturally I chose the highest point and also one of the best views from which to ogle at the beauty of Mt Everest.
These are three images merged in Photoshop.
From the top of Kalar Pathar, the towering face of Pumo Ri 7165m is the closest peak on the left. Across the valley is Lingtren, Khumbutse, Changtse and then in all her might and glory, Mt Everest aka Chomolungma 8850m and her sister Nuptse 7861m. (Naturally Nuptse looks taller because she is closer) The Khumbu Glacier falls down the Western Cwm and is joined further down the valley by the Changri Shar and Changri Nup Glaciers on the right of the photo. Everest base camp is just above the point on the black ridge behind the glacial lake.
Khumbu Skyline belongs to the following groups:

Awe inspiring awesome landscape…this pano is perfection. The flags on the right adding that hint of color breaking up the stark clear blue and white…Brilliant in every sense…Quite the adventurer you are..!

It’s a magic place. It was cloudy at Gorak Shep the morning we were going to climb, so feeling the altitude and tired from base camp the day before we decided not to go. Though of course it cleared, but we didn’t get to see this great vista your did. Awesome!
Laurette Ruys replied
We had such clear weather after the snowfall two days prior at Dingboche and I’m glad it was so clear on this special day (although the wind was blowing a gale up top and I wore just about all the clothes I had). I know what you mean about feeling the altitude, i think that’s understated. Up there everything is hard, even getting into the sleeping bag at night is a feat ;)

I just love looking at this, I feel risen from my current boring state of sitting on a computer in the burbs to having an energy that makes me want to grab my camera and getting no a plane to here. Such a beautiful stunning shot, those peaks are so jaw dropping, i love this pano, you did such a great job with this and showing this off so perfectly, and as Rob said that colour from the flags really adds some great breaking colours. Stunner of a shot Laurette 8-D

:D)) Michael i”m so happy seeing this would fill you with enough energy to want to jet off to these mountains to experience them first hand. The world up there is filled with so much energy and to have that translated back to you via me is a big compliment. I love those jaw-dropping peaks and I hope to see them again someday. I think going to a place like that changes your whole outlook on life for the better. THanks for your fave too :))
