open and endless are these seas
searching for our time, lost like empty islands, waiting
i’m scrambling across this coastline
finding my way home to a broken memory
while you’re dreaming of milk and honey
there’s another day, another reason
to let it all belong as it does with these winter rains
catch me falling, draw me in, succumb
i see your world through paper lenses
you hold your paintings of time up for the world to see
reality is dripping by the wayside
i saw you drowning like a fish out of water,
but you didn’t know it
holding out my hand for you, reach, reach
across your meridian the dolphins dream
you can feel their thoughts washing in with the waves
from depths and reasoning that runs thick with the currents
a consciousness rises like a single air bubble
yet it takes two hearts to breathe this strong
wrap my arms around you
let it belong as it does with these winter rains
catch me falling, draw me in, succumb

This looks fabulous on my 22inch monitor Laurette! lovely moody seascape image!!
Laurette Ruys replied
hehehe cool John, glad you think so. I’ve got it on my 20” ;-)
Rick Lawler
Bad case of monitor-envy here, but this still looks fabulous on my 19-incher.

thanks so much RIck :)

another great shot Laurette, at last I have a holiday and some gorgeous skies and my tripod has disintegrated ! ahhhhhhh
Laurette Ruys replied
thanks Jenny. Your tripod sounds like mine, legs that don’t screw down all the way and now plenty of sand slowly seizing it up, but it’s a good-un!

ummmm wow wow!! Absolutely stunning photo and lyrics, the photo is really powerful to me, the way you draw me in to this shot is so you! if you know what i mean:) I love the foreground composition, the way that water is surrounding that little rock formation is just awesome. the deep sky if full of feeling. So great to see more writing, this fits the shot so well, truly wonderful thoughtful words, “finding my way home to a broken memory while you’re dreaming of milk and honey” oh YOU! your genius inspires me so much! I love this poem/song:)
Laurette Ruys replied
:)) thanks for such a great comment Michael, I have to admit to getting some inspiration by reading some of your songs whilst writing this one. I wanted to put words to this image because it seemed fitting. glad you like the foreground here and those words too. i knew you’d apprecitate them. THanks again Michael and hope you get some inspiration to write some more coz I love reading your stuff ;_D) big grin here!
Jared Revell
awesome work, Laurette.
I really like the composition in this shot, it emphasizes the scale and depth of the scene.
Looks like a great place for seascape photography.
(perfect, fitting words too)
Laurette Ruys replied
thanks so much Jared. Glad you like the words too. it’s a great place and I’m itching to get back as soon as the bad weather over here clears :)

Being from one of the other Perth’s (Scotland) I’m keen to see your Perth, more so if this is the sort of seascape on offer. Wonderfully moody shot which really connects with your words.
Laurette Ruys replied
from one Perth to the other. Western Australia has a lot of coastline to offer, and the south-west has some beautiful seascapes. I hope to capture more of them soon.

Beautifully framed and composed and I love the way the movement of the water draws your eye up through the picture to the lonesome rock. Looks lie a great location to visit over and over again. Love the colours and details in the rocks.
Another winner for me!
Laurette Ruys replied
thankyou kindly Paul. It was fun balancing on slippery rocks to get this shot but I’m really glad I did. I haven’t been back since but plan to real soon :)
